If your commute or recreational riding takes you to Arlington and on into DC, FABB encourages you to show you support and share your ideas on the planned Long Bridge Project and its included bicycle and pedestrian bridges.

The Long Bridge Project across the Potomac River will double existing rail capacity on the lone bridge carrying rail traffic across the river. From the start of the project, FABB has advocated in support of the proposal’s plan for a pedestrian and bicycle crossing. The project partners accepted FABB’s and other groups’ preference for a stand-alone bicycle and pedestrian bridge alternative.

Last month, the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) and project partners reached a major design milestone — completing the Draft 30% design — of the Preliminary Engineering (PE) phase of the Long Bridge Project.

Now is the time to learn more about the project’s current design status and its plans for the bike/ped bridge and connections.

You can also show your support and share your ideas by taking the Long Bridge Spring 2023 Survey. The Survey is open through April 10, so don’t wait to make your thoughts known.
