Fairfax County riders have an opportunity to help shape new bicycle lanes and pedestrian crossings—and FABB encourages you to speak up!

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will hold three virtual public meetings in early November to discuss improvements proposed for the 2027 Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Repaving Program. Coordinating bicycle and pedestrian improvements with scheduled paving offers an opportunity to make our streets safer and more connected. FCDOT wants community feedback and your ideas to help finalize striping proposals for VDOT consideration and approval.

Your Local Knowledge Matters

Do you ride these streets—or avoid them because they feel unsafe? Tell county staff where bicycle lanes could close a gap, where turning vehicles create conflicts, and where better crossings would help people reach schools, parks, transit, and neighborhood destinations. Specific examples can help improve the proposals before they go to VDOT for consideration and approval.

Can’t attend? You can still participate. Online surveys will open after each meeting, and comments will also be accepted by phone and mail for two weeks. Recordings, presentation slides, and comment instructions will be posted afterward.

Visit the county’s meeting website for links and additional information here.

FABB urges local riders to participate, support these improvements, and help make the most of the 2027 repaving season.
