FABB participated in the ribbon cutting for the opening of the first section of the I-66 Parallel Trail last month and we are looking forward to the completion of the VDOT-built sections of the trail this August.
But, FABB’s I-66 trail advocacy can’t stop and won’t stop now. There is still considerable work to be done before the entire trail is completed.
- FABB will be watching the trail sections that are the responsibility of Fairfax County or the Northern Virginia Parks Authority and do not yet have completion dates set.
- FABB also will be keeping tabs on the Vienna Metro bike/pedestrian interim project—on-road bike facilities connecting the Parallel Trail between Blake Lane and Sutton Road and the Vienna Metro Station—that is still under construction
- FABB has notified and will continue to follow up with the Fairfax County Police Department about parking violators on the Sutton Road bike lanes.
- FABB will continue to consult with VDOT about the eight planned bike counters that need to be activated.
