Capital Bikeshare is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to experience Fairfax County by bike. Whether you’re commuting to work, connecting to Metrorail, running errands, meeting friends, or simply exploring a new neighborhood, bike share makes it possible to ride without owning a bicycle.

FABB has long supported the expansion of Capital Bikeshare because it provides a convenient, low-cost transportation option while introducing more people to the joys of bicycling. Many regular cyclists took their first bike share ride out of curiosity—and discovered just how practical and enjoyable riding can be.

If you’ve never tried Capital Bikeshare, there’s never been a better time to sign up.

Fairfax County’s Network Is Nearly Complete

Fairfax County’s Capital Bikeshare expansion took another major step forward in June with the opening of new stations in Annandale, Seven Corners, Belle Haven, and Huntington. Just four additional stations remain to be installed later this summer, completing the current expansion.

New Stations Now Open:

  • Annandale
  • Daniels Avenue & Poplar Street
  • Seven Corners
  • Cherry Street & Lawndale Drive
  • Belle Haven
  • Belle View Boulevard & 13th Street South
  • Huntington
  • North Kings Highway & Poag Street
  • North Kings Highway & Fort Drive
  • Huntington Metro South
  • Fairhaven Avenue & Monticello Road
Coming Later This Summer

Four additional stations will expand access to some of Fairfax County’s most scenic and popular destinations along the Potomac River:

  • Belle Haven Park
  • Riverside Park
  • Mount Vernon Estate
  • Fort Hunt Park

These additions will make it even easier to travel between neighborhoods, parks, trails, historic sites, and Metrorail stations without needing a car.

Why Try Capital Bikeshare?

Bike share offers an easy way to discover whether bicycling can become part of your daily routine. You don’t need to own a bike, worry about maintenance, or find space to store one. Simply unlock a bicycle, ride to your destination, and dock it when you’re finished.

It’s an excellent option for:

  • Short trips around town.
  • First- and last-mile connections to transit.
  • Running errands.
  • Visiting parks and attractions.
  • Trying bicycling before investing in your own bike.

For many people, it’s the easiest way to begin riding with confidence.

Capital Bikeshare also remains one of the region’s best transportation values. Eligible residents can join Capital Bikeshare for All for just $5 per year, making bike share affordable for even more Fairfax County residents.

Building a Better Connected Fairfax

Every new Capital Bikeshare station, shared-use trail, protected intersection, and bike parking facility makes it easier for people of all ages and abilities to choose active transportation.

Fairfax County continues to invest in a transportation network that safely connects neighborhoods with schools, parks, businesses, transit, and recreational destinations. FABB is proud to be your local advocate for  these investments because they create more travel choices, reduce traffic congestion, improve public health, and make our communities more livable.

Whether you’re a longtime cyclist or someone who’s never ridden a bike for transportation, consider giving Capital Bikeshare a try this summer. You may discover a new favorite way to get around Fairfax County.
