FABB understands that every cyclist knows the feeling.

You arrive at your destination, only to discover that the nearest bike rack is…well…not actually nearby. You circle the block once. Then twice. You begin evaluating increasingly questionable “parking options.” Is that signpost acceptable? Maybe that sturdy-looking fence?

Finding a place to park a bicycle can sometimes feel like a scavenger hunt designed by someone who has never ridden a bike. Plus, even after you find a rack, another question remains: Will my bike still be there when I come back?

This is why FABB has worked with the county over the years to establish bicycle parking guidelines and advocated for the inclusion of secure bicycling parking in active transportation planning.

Fortunately, if your rides this summer take you to several key transit and commuter locations in Fairfax County, you can skip the scavenger hunt—and the worry.

Ride More—and Park Securely

Fairfax County’s Secure Bike Parking Program gives cyclists a safe, weather-protected place to leave their bikes while commuting, running errands, or exploring the county.

Instead of hoping you remembered your lock, wondering whether the rack is full, or checking on your bike every few minutes from the café window, you can park with confidence in one of six secure bike rooms located at Metrorail stations and commuter facilities across Fairfax County:

  • Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail Station
  • Herndon Metrorail Station
  • Innovation Center Metrorail Station
  • Stringfellow Park and Ride, Centreville
  • Monument Drive Commuter Parking Garage and Transit Center, Fairfax
  • Springfield Community Business Center (CBC) Commuter Parking Garage

For a limited time, a one-year membership is just $25 with promo code SUMMER26.

Even better, one membership provides unlimited access to all six secure bike rooms, making it easy to combine bicycling with transit or leave your bike securely while you go about your day.

The discounted membership is available through September 30, 2026.

More Riding, Less Worry

One of the biggest barriers to bicycling isn’t the ride itself—it’s knowing your bike will be safe once you arrive. Secure parking helps remove that concern, making it easier to choose a bike for commuting, shopping, recreation, or connecting to Metrorail.

Fairfax County and Metro have been steadily improving the experience for cyclists—not just by expanding trails and bike lanes, but by making sure there’s a safe place to park at the end of the ride.
