FABB encourages all our supporters and fellow riders to join the Fairfax County Bicycle & Pedestrian Ambassador Program, a volunteer initiative by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) designed to improve safety, promote active transportation, and engage our community in a fun and positive way.
What’s the Ambassador Program?
The Ambassador Program is a grassroots volunteer initiative aimed at making Fairfax County a safer, healthier, and more walkable and bike-friendly place. As an Ambassador, you’ll be part of a team that works to educate, encourage, and empower fellow residents about biking and walking safely.
Why Become an Ambassador?
As a Bicycle & Pedestrian Ambassador, you’ll:
- Promote safe biking and walking practices to your neighbors, friends, and community members.
- Stay informed about upcoming bike and pedestrian infrastructure improvements.
- Engage directly with the public at community festivals, farmers markets, libraries, and other events.
- Help others on the spot with basic bike maintenance, safety tips, and route planning.
Whether you’re handing out materials, giving a safety talk, or simply modeling good behavior on your rides, your efforts will help strengthen a culture of safe, sustainable transportation across the county.
Program Highlights:
- Open to anyone 18 years or older who can ride a bike.
- Requires just 10 volunteer hours per year—you choose your events and engagements.
- Includes a training session to equip you with the tools to educate others and support events.
