The Ashgrove Trail is back—and better than before in linking Tysons and Vienna.
Local bicyclists are invited to join community members on Monday, September 28, at 5 p.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating completion of the Ashgrove Trail and Old Courthouse Spring Branch Stream Restoration project.
The ceremony will take place at the Ashgrove Trail stream crossing, adjacent to 8618 Westwood Center Drive, where parking will be available.

The project replaced the damaged stream crossing with a new concrete culvert, rebuilt the Ashgrove Trail, added new hand railings, and repaired extensive downstream erosion. The larger restoration effort encompasses about 2,000 feet of stream channel, helping stabilize stream banks, improve water quality, protect the surrounding forest, and restore native vegetation.
For bicyclists, the most visible benefit is a repaired and renewed Ashgrove Trail and a more durable stream crossingthat links Tysons to Vienna. Projects like this demonstrate how investments in trails and environmental restoration can work together—protecting natural resources while preserving safe, useful connections for people traveling by bike and on foot.
