FABB wants to encourage our Falls Church members to attend a town hall hosted by Delegate Marcus Simon to discuss ongoing efforts to improve safety on Shreve Road. The meeting is on Thursday, December 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Shrevewood Elementary School at 7525 Shreve Road in Falls Church.

The Shreve Road Community Working Group, a coalition of 300 residents and eight community associations, has been working with local officials and the Virginia Department of Transportation on safety improvements after a fatal crash on Shreve Road that killed a woman and injured a minor last August. Shreve Road connects Route 29 just inside the Beltway with Route 7 in Falls Church. VDOT has already reduced the speed limit on a section of the road because of the high number of crashes there since 2015. VDOT also has recommended changes to signage along the road to improve safety warnings and alert motorists to turns, a school, and trail crossings.

This town hall is your opportunity to Speak Up to support biking and walking. Your participation also will help  promote ongoing government efforts to strike a better balance between cars and trucks and pedestrians and bicyclists in transportation developments.
