Although no new bike facilities are proposed for the Springfield District, FABB is asking local riders to participated in the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) virtual public meeting on proposed paving and restriping changes there on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 pm.
FCDOT and VDOT proposals feature upgrades to the crosswalk at Shiplett Boulevard and Capella Avenue, which may include marked crosswalks, high-visibility crosswalks and/or crosswalk signage. FABB, of course, supports these safety improvements but also needs riders familiar with the area to use the meeting as an opportunity to identify nearby locations that would benefit from bike lanes and that might be included in future paving and restriping plans.
Riders can join online here. By phone, you can participate by dialing 571-429-5982 and using the Phone Conference ID: 353 021 956#.
If unable to participate, you can still Speak Up! for better bicycling because FCDOT will be accepting comments through close of business on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, via email using the feedback form here. Please note in the subject line the appropriate district repaving project.
