FABB is proud to once again join with Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck in holding the Tour de Mount Vernon, now in its sixth year. This community bike ride is scheduled for Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 8:30 am. and you can register for it here.
The Tour de Mount Vernon brings cyclists on a fun ride through the northern and central portion of the Mount Vernon District including a scenic route through Fort Belvoir. In addition to the Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House, riders will pass by the new National Museum of the US Army, Fort Hunt Park, Gum Springs, and the Mount Vernon Estate.
All riders and volunteers will receive a non-transferable voucher for admission to George Washington’s Mount Vernon by December 31. Admission includes a mansion tour, but because of daily space limitations, it must be booked in advance.
This rain or shine event begins at 8:30 am starts and ends at the Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House. Two rides are available, a short route covering roughly 21 miles and a longer route of 41 miles.
The routes consist of paved roads and paved trails and have several challenging sections, so be prepared. Ride monitors and Fairfax County Police will be on hand to help with directions and to keep everyone safe.
The registration fee is $25.00 and includes Tour de Mount Vernon Socks and a $5 donation to FABB.
