Fairfax County is updating its Policy Plan which guides the long-term vision for land use, housing, sustainability, and transportation. Rather than hope, let’s demand a future of more bike-friendly, walkable, inclusive, and transit-accessible neighborhoods.

The multi-year update to the county’s Countywide Policy Plan is called Plan Forward, and will include several opportunities for community feedback that begin May 2024 and will continue into 2025. The goals of Plan Forward are to:
- Review, update, and streamline existing Policy Plan elements;
- Add new Policy Plan elements as needed; and
- Ensure the Policy Plan is in alignment with the Countywide Strategic Plan, the One Fairfax Policy, and other recently adopted policies and initiatives.
There will be two virtual community meetings on Microsoft Teams.

By participating in these community meetings and providing feedback, you can advocate for dedicated bike lanes, safer intersections, and improved connectivity. Learn more about Plan Forward here. County staff anticipates additional community outreach during the second half of 2024 with draft plan reviews in early 2025 and the final phase on plan completion to begin in June 2025 and conclude in the fall of 2025.
