Fairfax County is in the process of developing urban design guidelines for the Richmond Highway Corridor and is holding an Urban Design Workshop to share design ideas on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

The creation of urban design guidelines helps to elaborate on the overall design, appearance, character and function of streets and streetscapes, parks, and plazas as well as the form of buildings and their relationship to streets and public spaces.

The Design Guidelines for the Richmond Highway Corridor will serve as a companion document to Volume I: Urban Design Guidelines for Commercial Revitalization Districts and Areas and will be tailored to the community’s specific preferences for the Richmond Highway corridor area.

FABB encourages local riders and other interested residents to attend this workshop. It will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Walt Whitman Middle School Cafeteria, 2500 Parkers Lane in Alexandria.
