• Attend a Virtual Meeting Next Week or Fill Out the Survey by September 19!

FABB is urging our members and fellow riders to speak up as Fairfax County’s ActiveFairfax Transportation Plan moves closer to final adoption. This is our big chance to help shape the future of biking and trails across the county—and your input matters.

Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) has just released an updated August 2025 Draft Active Transportation and Trails Plan Map, and they’re asking for public feedback before the Plan goes to the Board of Supervisors. The plan aims to create a safer, more comfortable, and more connected network for people biking, walking, rolling, and running throughout the county.

FCDOT will host two virtual meetings next week to walk through the draft map and answer questions:

Complete the Public Survey

A short public survey is open through Friday, September 19, 2025. You can view the draft map, and then tell FCDOT what works, what doesn’t, and what’s missing. The survey only takes a few minutes and covers key questions that ask you to:

  • Rate the overall plan (on a 1–5 scale)
  • Share whether you agree with specific connections on the map
  • Identify missing links or gaps in the network
  • Evaluate if the plan works for all ages and abilities
  • Comment on the proposed plan text that will go into the County’s Comprehensive Plan

Your real-world experience matters. The County wants to know if the draft map reflects how you move around, where trails are lacking, and whether the proposed network feels safe and connected. Your feedback also will help ensure this plan reflects the real needs of trail users and bike riders in every corner of Fairfax County.

Please share you comments with FABB at [email protected] to allow us to assemble a larger package of inputs for the county.

Why It Matters

This updated map represents years of work—and thousands of voices—but it’s not finished. Fairfax County needs to hear from the people who ride the trails, bike to work, and navigate our streets every day.

FABB has been there from the beginning, promoting open houses and workshops, providing feedback on missing links and barriers, and supporting a network for all ages and abilities. Now it’s your turn to weigh in one last time.

Fairfax County’s transportation future is being written right now. Let’s make sure biking is part of that story—for safety, for access, and for everyone.
