Today starts National Bike Month, and this year’s calendar is packed with exciting events for riders of all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re a commuter, a recreational cyclist, or just bike-curious, there are plenty of ways to get involved, have fun, and support biking in your community.

FABB is thrilled to partner with local governments and advocacy groups to support this month-long celebration—and we want to see you out there! Mark your calendars and join us for these great rides and activities:

Sunday, May 4 – Tour de Hunter Mill

  • Join Supervisor Walter Alcorn for this scenic annual ride through the Hunter Mill District. Choose from two routes and enjoy a day of exploration, exercise, and community.

Wednesday, May 7 – National Bike and Roll to School Day

  • Students, parents, and teachers: Let’s roll to school together! Join schools across Fairfax in promoting health, safety, and independence through biking.
  • Visit walkbiketoschool.org for event tips and resources.

Saturday, May 10 – Tysons Pedal with Petals

  • Celebrate spring and explore Tysons by bike!
  • Choose a 2-mile family ride or a 9-mile intermediate route with support from FABB ride marshals.
  • Stick around afterward for music, food, and fun at Westbriar Elementary.

Saturday, May 10 – City of Fairfax Resident Ride

  • Discover how fast and easy it is to reach transit by bike on a 6-mile group ride from Fairfax Blvd & Pickett Rd to Vienna Metro and back. Bring your own bike or borrow a Capital Bikeshare.
  • Start: Capital Bikeshare Station at Fairfax Blvd & Pickett Rd, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Rain Date: May 24)

Thursday, May 15 – Bike to Work Day 2025

  • Celebrate the 24th annual BTWD by riding to one of dozens of pit stops across the region!
  • Free T-shirts and giveaways for registered riders!

Saturday, May 17 – Kids Safety Day at the Fairfax Antique Car Show

  • Bike Month meets retro fun at this beloved local event!
  • Come by Fairfax City Hall for bike and traffic safety games, a pop-up traffic garden, and more family-friendly activities.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 10455 Armstrong St., Fairfax

All Month – National Bike Month Challenge from Love to Ride

  • Join riders across the country in a fun and friendly competition to get the most people biking during May!
