Hey, bike friends in Fairfax City—Bike Month is almost here, and there are some fantastic ways for you to get involved, give back, and help spread the joy of biking!

Whether you’re a student looking for service hours, a resident who loves cycling, or just someone eager to support safe and fun community events, Fairfax City needs your help to make Bike Month 2025 a success.

Here are just a few of the ways you can lend a hand this spring:

Bike Month Flyer Distribution (April 15–May 10, flexible days):
Help spread the word about the city’s Bike Month events by picking up flyers at City Hall and dropping them off at local shops, coffee spots, and community boards. It’s a great way to help boost turnout—and get in some extra biking!

Community Ride at Old Town Square, Saturday, May 10
Join us at 9:30 a.m. for a resident group ride and help as a sweep rider, making sure no one falls behind or gets separated. A fun, easy way to support the local bike community!

Bike to Work Day Pit Stop Party, Thursday, May 15
From 5:00–10:00 a.m., help staff the city’s BTWD pit stop in Old Town Square. Volunteers will help set up tables, hand out T-shirts and snacks, sign riders in, and assist with the popular helmet exchange table. It’s a great way to start the day!

Kids Safety Day Traffic Garden, Saturday, May 17
From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at City Hall, help with a pop-up traffic garden that teaches kids biking and walking safety. Volunteers will help set up, guide kids through the activity, hand out giveaways, and break down the event at the end.

Click here to volunteer or visit the City of Fairfax’s Bike Month page for more details.

These events are a fun way to connect with your community, meet fellow riders, and support biking in Fairfax City. Let’s work together to make Bike Month 2025 the best one yet!
