Speak Up! for buffered bike lanes at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) virtual public meeting on proposed paving and restriping changes in Braddock and Mason Districts on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 7 pm.

FABB is asking local riders to show their support for proposed buffered rather than standard bike lanes on John Marr Drive between Backlick Road and Columbia Pike in Mason District. We need riders familiar with the area to help FCDOT and VDOT take a broader view of understanding where narrowing travel lanes and converting underutilized travel lanes are necessary and feasible.

For Braddock District, we need local bicyclists to press FCDOT and VDOT to choose buffered over standard bike lanes for the proposed additions on Guinea Road between Braddock Road and Twinbrook Road. Participants also should support proposed crosswalk upgrades at Southampton Drive and Thames Street, which should improve safety for all road users.

Riders can join online here. By phone, you can participate by dialing 571-429-5982 and using the Phone Conference ID: 567 290 14# .

If unable to participate, you can still Speak Up! for better bicycling because FCDOT will be accepting comments through close of business on Thursday, May 4, 2023, via email using the feedback form here. Please note in the subject line the appropriate district repaving project.

Please join us in making our voices heard in support of better bicycling in Fairfax County! Interested in doing more? Contact us at [email protected].
