We were sad to see that the bike shop, Spokes, Etc at Belle View in Alexandria is temporarily closed after a fire at the shopping center shuttered it and several other businesses. Because of the closure a scheduled event to let people sell their old bikes and cycling gear for store credit has been moved to the Spokes, Etc store in Vienna on the weekend of November 2 and 3
This is a great time to do some Fall cleaning and to clear your home and garage of unused or unneeded bikes, parts, accessories, and cycling apparel. The event will feature the Trade-In Guys, a national company that accepts trade-ins on complete bicycles, framesets, forks, wheelsets, components, parts, accessories, and select cycling clothing. They make their best offer up-front to avoid the hassles of bargaining and pay a very competitive price for traded bicycles and equipment. You can find more information about their process here.
The only condition is that trade-in bicycles must be ones originally sold by a bike shop. “Big Box” store bicycles like Huffy, Next, Mongoose, Schwinn, etc. do not qualify for trade-in or store credit. But, these bikes will be accepted as a tax-deductible donation for Bikes for the World.
The event runs from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, and from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 3.
