Fairfax County’s 2025 Paving and Restriping Program continues, and the final April meeting is a big one for Springfield and Mason District residents.

Join FCDOT and VDOT Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m. for a virtual discussion of upcoming paving plans—including a proposed road diet for Piney Branch Road and potential crosswalk improvements.

What’s a Road Diet?

A road diet typically reduces the number of travel lanes to calm traffic and create space for bike lanes, crosswalks, or turn lanes. On roads like Piney Branch, this can significantly improve safety for everyone—drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Crosswalk improvements are also on the table, offering a chance to boost visibility and protection for people walking in key areas.
