The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) is paving the way for significant transportation enhancements in the Sully District, and your input is crucial! FABB encourages you to join us at the upcoming FCDOT virtual public meeting on April 23 at 7 pm on the 2024 Paving and Restriping Program, which promises to enhance safety, sustainability, and connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians alike.

The meeting will spotlight proposed infrastructure improvements designed with community safety and mobility in mind. Here’s what’s being proposed for the Sully District:

  • Bike Lanes on Walney Road: Stretching between Westfields Boulevard and Westmore Street, these proposed bike lanes aim to provide a safe and dedicated pathway for cyclists, encouraging more residents to embrace biking as a sustainable mode of transportation.
  • Bike Lanes on Field Encampment Road: Proposed lanes between Golden Oaks Lane and Centrewood Drive will enhance cyclist safety and accessibility, further establishing biking as a viable and enjoyable commuting option.
  • Crosswalk Improvements: Significant enhancements are proposed at key intersections, including Field Encampment Road and Cider Barrel Circle, Field Encampment Road and St. Germain Drive, as well as Compton Village Drive and Bradenton Drive. These improvements are designed to ensure pedestrian safety and ease of access across busy streets.

Your Voice Matters!
