Greetings! As the newly elected President of FABB’s Board, I wanted to introduce myself. I am lifelong Fairfax County resident (Annandale HS Class of 1995), dedicated cyclist, and a firm believer the perfect number of bikes is N+1.

It is a pleasure to be a member of FABB and to serve on the board. I have benefitted from all the hard work the group has done to improve the biking infrastructure within the county. As a child I never dreamed I would be able to bike from my front door to my favorite park or office, and I am immensely grateful to have these opportunities now. I wanted to join the board as a way to say thank you for allowing me to enjoy freedom on two wheels in new ways.

My job as President is made easier because my predecessor, Bruce Wright, has done an amazing job of being one of the longtime faces of FABB. He continues to share knowledge and his ideas on how we can continue to push for change. As members we are lucky to have a board that is passionate and fully engaged on all things cycling in the county; I am grateful and very excited to continue to work with and learn from each of them.

Each month I will do my best to share our current priorities and opportunities for you to engage as a volunteer. One of the first opportunities coming up is Bike to Work Day (May 17, 2024). Registration is now open here: https://www.biketoworkmetrodc.org.

FABB is managing two pit stops, Burke VRE and George Mason Regional Library (Annandale), and will have volunteers at many others. If you are interested in volunteering at either location, or representing FABB at a pit stop near you, drop me a line at [email protected].

If you have ideas, I want to hear those too. And if you see me riding or walking on the CCT, stop me and say hello.

Joy
