Easy to Reach by Bike
One of the best things about the Burke VRE pit stop is how well-connected it is to nearby neighborhoods and trails. You don’t have to ride on busy roads to get here—just hop on a trail and enjoy the ride.
The Burke VRE Trail/Pohick Stream Valley Trail is 1.6 miles long (3 miles round trip) and directly connects neighborhoods to the station. The trail is paved, wooded, and scenic and links homes, shopping, and transit in one easy route. This trail runs right into the station, making it a stress-free option for first-time riders and commuters alike.
The Burke VRE station also is near connections to some of Fairfax County’s best trail networks:
- Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail, a major north-south corridor.
- Lake Accotink Trail, is accessible via nearby connectors
- South Run Trail, links to South Run District Park
- Lake Mercer Loop Trail, which is perfect for a relaxed ride before or after work
However you ride—short commute or longer adventure—there’s a route that works for you.
Biking Plus Transit: A Winning Combo
The Burke Centre VRE Station makes it easy to combine biking and transit. In addition to the direct trail access into the station, you’ll find:
- Bike racks and enclosed lockers available
- Convenient connections for commuters
It’s a great example of how biking and transit can work together to expand your options.
