Spring is here—and so are more bikes on the trails! As we get out and enjoy warmer days on Fairfax County’s extensive network of trails and bike lanes, many of us are bound to notice potholes, cracked pavement, overgrown brush, or other hazards.
But when you spot a problem… who do you report it to? To make that easier, FABB is launching a new trail maintenance reporting service for local riders.
If you notice a trail or bike facility in need of repair while you’re out riding, just email FABB board member Mark Warno at [email protected] with the details. Please include:
- Location (trail name or nearest street/intersection)
- Brief description of the issue
- Photo, if available. (See how to photograph a pothole here.)
Mark—and other FABB members—will help get your report into the right hands, whether that’s the county, a park authority, or the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Why This Matters
Fairfax County has over 4,000 miles of trails, sidewalks, and bikeways that are the responsibility of multiple local and state agencies. That’s a lot to maintain—and government just doesn’t have eyes on every mile.
But riders like you do. Your reports help keep our active transportation network safe, smooth, and accessible—not just for you, but for everyone who walks, rides, or rolls.
So, if you see something, say something—and help FABB continue to make bicycling better in Fairfax County.
