FABB encourages local bicyclists to plan now to attend a Virginia Department of Transportation public information meeting on proposals to widen the Fairfax County Parkway between Route 29 and Ox Road and to replace the traffic signal at Fairfax County Parkway and Popes Head Road with an interchange featuring triple roundabouts. The plans include some additional bicycle improvements and local riders could greatly improve the additions by providing their ideas.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, November 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at James W. Robinson, Jr. Secondary School, 5035 Sideburn Road, in Fairfax.

This will be a great opportunity to Speak Up for shared-used paths on both sides of the parkway, appropriate signage and signals to assist riders, and the installation of adequate bicycle facilities, including storage lockers and racks, near bus stops. If you have specific concerns you would like FABB to address, please send an e-mail to [email protected].
