• Metro commute disrupted? Why not try bike commuting?
  • FABB Bike Advisors can help.

FABB’s Bike Advisors are ready to help commuters try bicycling during the Metro Yellow and Blue lines closure south of Reagan National Airport between September 10 and October 22.

This six-week closure is for prep work for the eventual rehabilitation of the Yellow Line tunnel and bridge between Pentagon and L’Enfant Plaza stations. The Blue line will reopen in late October, but the Yellow Line will remain closed between the Pentagon and L’Enfant Plaza stations through May 2023.

For commuters wanting to give biking a try during the closure, our volunteers are available to advise on bike routes to work or wherever you need to go. We can help you select a route that avoids high-volume, high-speed roads and provides a safer and more pleasant commute. Our advisors also can provide helpful advice on the equipment and other resources needed to have a successful bike trip to work or for routine errands.

To request help with a bike route or other bike commuting question, email us at [email protected] or click here.

FABB can always use more volunteers for our bike advisor program. If you are an experienced rider and want to help us spread the joy of bicycling, contact us at the links above and become part of a team working to make bicycling better in Fairfax County.
