Starting November 1, the Vesper Trail, an important connection between Higdon Drive/Vesper Street in Vienna and the Spring Hill Metro Station on Leesburg Pike (Route 7) in Tysons, will be closed for utility work.

As reported by FFXNow, Dominion Energy will be placing a power line underground along the trail and expects the project to last until February 2024. The construction in part of efforts to increase power grid capacity to accommodate Tyson’s continued growth.

FABB recommends the nearby Ashgrove Trail as an alternative route for bikers and walkers moving between Tysons and Vienna. The Ashgrove Trail runs between Ashgrove Lane in Vienna (also accessible from Palm Springs Drive) and Ashgrove Lane in Tysons behind the Westwood Center (Walmart SuperCenter).

The availability of an alternative route underscores the importance of FABB’s advocacy for the creation of robust bicycling and walking infrastructure as part of the county’s multimodal transportation plans.
