Are you ready to be part of shaping the future of bicycling in our community? Well, FABB has some great news that’s just the ticket to contributing to a more bike-friendly world.

Fairfax County is stepping up its game to make bicycling better with updated bicycle parking guidelines. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will host a virtual meeting on the updated guidelines on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 6 p.m. FCDOT staff will present information on the updated guidance, answer questions and get your feedback.

Let’s face it, local riders all know the struggle of finding a safe and secure spot to park our bikes, whether it’s at work, school, or other destinations. This isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s a barrier that keeps many from choosing cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transportation. The updated Bicycle Parking Guidelines aim to tackle this issue head-on, ensuring adequate bicycle parking facilities are available where they are needed most.

These updates are aligned with the recently amended Fairfax County Zoning Ordinance and reflect the latest in bike parking best practices. We’re talking about everything from short-term to long-term bike parking spaces, rack designs, facility locations, and even enhancements for user comfort.

FABB is asking local riders to get involved and make a difference! This is your opportunity to help shape a more bicycle-friendly Fairfax County.
