Hey, all bicyclists and outdoor enthusiasts who frequent the W&OD Trail! Starting April 24, 2024, and continuing through August, Dominion Energy will be conducting maintenance work on electric transmission structures along a significant stretch of the trail.
The maintenance activities will be focused along the W&OD trail from Virginia Lane in Idylwood, near Shrevewood Elementary School, extending to North Sycamore Street in East Falls Church, close to the East Falls Church Metro Station. This corresponds to the trail segment between Mile Markers 5.5 to 8.5.
Work is scheduled on weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, from April 24 to August 2024.
The trail will generally remain open, but be prepared for brief stops during daily setup and cleanup of work zones. Trail users should anticipate occasional disruptions such as equipment noise and intermittent lane closures. Safety measures such as temporary tent scaffolding and secure work perimeters will be in place.
