Fairfax County’s 2026 Roadway Restriping Program is moving forward, and now it’s Springfield District’s turn to weigh in. While no new bike lanes are proposed in this round, several crosswalk improvements are on the table—changes that can significantly improve safety and accessibility for people walking, biking, or rolling in the community.
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) is hosting a virtual community meeting on Monday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. to present the proposed improvements and hear from local residents. This is your chance to learn more about the plans and advocate for safe, people-friendly streets in Springfield.
Proposed Crosswalk Improvements
- Burke Road at Ticonderoga Court
- Burke Road at Kara Place
- Hampton Forest Way at Trail Crossing
- Hampton Forest Way at Homewood Way
- Hampton Forest Way at Ashleigh Road
- Huntsman Boulevard at Spur Road
- Huntsman Boulevard at Beachway Lane
These crossings serve neighborhoods, trails, and schools—places where safe pedestrian access is essential.
Even though no bike infrastructure is proposed in this cycle, your participation can help identify future opportunities and push for stronger safety measures in your community. Let county officials know these projects matter.

Fairfax County’s restriping program uses Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) repaving as an opportunity to add crosswalks, bike lanes, and other safety features—at minimal cost. But without public input, those opportunities can be missed.
Let’s make sure Springfield residents are heard. Show up, speak up, and help build safer streets for everyone.
