Mark your calendars—Sunday, May 4 is your chance to ride through the scenic trails, parks, and neighborhoods of Fairfax County’s Hunter Mill District in the 5th Annual Tour de Hunter Mill! Organized by Supervisor Walter Alcorn’s office and supported by FABB, this beloved community ride invites cyclists of all ages and skill levels to come together for a day of fresh air, exploration, and two-wheeled fun.
The ride begins and ends at the North County Governmental Center in Reston (1801 Cameron Glen Drive). From there, participants will roll along a mix of trails, shared-use paths, and low-stress roadways, including sections of the iconic W&OD Trail. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a family out for your first big group ride, there’s something for everyone.
This year’s ride features two route options—an 11-mile ride and a 25-mile ride—so you can choose the distance that suits your mood and pace. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to stop at a fully stocked pit stop where you can take a break, grab snacks and water, use the restroom, and connect with fellow riders.

And there’s a new twist for 2025: team registration! Round up your friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers and sign up together for an extra layer of fun and camaraderie. It’s a great way to share the joy of biking and experience the community spirit that makes this event so special.
Registration is now open, and the cost is $30 for adult riders. Children 15 and under ride free but must be accompanied by an adult. Your registration not only gets you the coveted Tour de Hunter Mill socks but also includes a $5 donation to FABB to support our continued work for safer, more bike-friendly streets throughout Fairfax County.
Helmets are required for all participants, and if you don’t have one, the Reston Bike Club is generously offering loaners. If the registration fee is a barrier, please don’t hesitate to contact Supervisor Alcorn’s office—scholarships are available, and we want everyone to have the chance to ride.
This is a rain-or-shine event, unless extreme weather forces cancellation. In that case, the ride will not be rescheduled.
The Tour de Hunter Mill is more than just a bike ride—it’s a celebration of community, healthy living, and the future of biking in Fairfax County. Whether you’re out to ride solo, connect with friends, or just enjoy a beautiful day on two wheels, you’ll be part of something special.
