Are you passionate about biking, walking, or other forms of active transportation in Fairfax County? Now’s your chance to make a difference! The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) is inviting the community to participate in shaping the future of our transportation and trail network. This is a unique opportunity to influence the proposed Active Transportation and Trail Network, an ambitious new plan that updates and merges the Bicycle Master Plan and the Countywide Trails Plan.
What is the ActiveFairfax Transportation Plan?
The ActiveFairfax Transportation Plan is designed to create a safer, more comfortable, and healthier environment for everyone in Fairfax County. Whether you’re walking, biking, hiking, scootering, or even horseback riding, this plan aims to ensure that our community has affordable and convenient options for non-motorized travel, both for daily commutes and recreation.
Get Involved: Join an Open House Near You
Plan now to join FABB in attending the 12 in-person open houses FCDOT is hosting across the county in September to gather feedback and provide information. These open houses are a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with transportation staff, explore exhibit boards, ask questions, and share your thoughts. The meetings will be conducted in both English and Spanish, ensuring that everyone has a chance to participate.
For those unable to make it to the in-person events, FCDOT will also hold four virtual meetings in November. These online sessions are a convenient way to get involved from the comfort of your own home.
FABB will be sharing the specific dates and times for both in-person and virtual meetings soon, so stay tuned! In the meantime, you can find the full schedule here.
Have Your Say: Multiple Ways to Provide Feedback
Your feedback is crucial! You can visit the project webpage to review meeting materials, explore the proposed Active Transportation and Trail Network, and access other valuable resources. Additionally, there are several ways to share your input:
- Survey: Complete a brief survey to provide your feedback.
- Interactive Map: Zoom in on specific locations and leave your ideas and comments directly on an interactive map.
- Recorded Messages: Call 703-890-5898 and use Project Code 7268 to leave a recorded message for the project team.
All comments will be accepted through December 20, 2024. Don’t miss this chance to be part of the conversation and help shape the future of active transportation and make bicycling better in Fairfax County!
