FABB encourage local riders to participate in two virtual meetings held by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) on the West Falls Church Active Transportation Study. This effort, which involves FABB volunteers, seeks to improve the active transportation network surrounding the West Falls Church Metro or Transit Station Area (TSA). This is the first round of meetings on the study and it’s a great opportunity to ask questions and provide input.

  • The first meeting is on Wednesday, February 9, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. You can join the meeting here. You also can call in by dialing 571-429-5928 and using the passcode: 994269052#.
  • The second meeting is on Saturday, February 12, from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Click here to join the meeting or dial 571-429-5982 and use Passcode: 403848308#.

The West Falls Church Active Transportation Study will perform an existing conditions and gap analysis that will identify gaps in the pedestrian and bike network, including barriers to access, inadequate facilities, and other areas for improvement. Your input is needed to ensure that all gaps and inadequacies are identified and to help set priorities for improvements.

This study is an outgrowth of a lengthy effort that culminated last July when the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved an amendment to its Comprehensive Plan to support development of a vibrant, mixed-use community that emphasized safe and convenient bicycle and pedestrian enhancements connecting to the Metrorail station. Bicyclists need to maintain the momentum behind this development with their continued involvement in the study and priority setting process.

Plan now to be part of this effort to make bicycling better in Fairfax County.
