West Falls Church Connect to W&OD Trail Project Area

FABB has reported previously on the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and its 2020-2025 Six Year Program Update.  The program includes plans to allocate at least $400 million towards multiple projects across northern Virginia region.

Falls Church has applied for some of these  NVTA funds for two projects, one of which is the West Falls Church Connection to W&OD Trail Project. And, the city is seeking public support to help get the application approved.

The project proposal would fund the installation of a new 10-foot multi-use path and 6-foot planting strip along Shreve Road between the W&OD Trail and Route 7. It also includes the installation of acorn style street lights, a crosswalk near the intersection of Shreve Road and Gordon Road, and benches near the entrance to the W&OD Trail. Riders who live in or transit Falls Church can help support the proposal by participating in a planned public hearing at the NVTA’s 14 May meeting. Interested citizens can voice their support and maintain social distancing by attending the hearing virtually. Note: The format has not been finalized but will be announced soon on the NVTA website.

Comments also can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed through the Post Office to NVTA, 3040 Williams Drive, Suite 200, Fairfax, VA 22031. The deadline for comments is midnight on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
