FABB encourages members to make plans now to attend a Virginia Department of Transportation public information meeting on widening the Fairfax County Parkway between Route 29 (Lee Highway) and Route 123 (Ox Road) on Monday evening, January 7, 2019.  As part of the $195 million project, VDOT plans to improve existing portions of the shared use path along the parkway and to construct missing links so that the trail is continuous within the roughly five miles of the project’s limits. This is an excellent opportunity for local riders to show support for trail improvements and provide ideas for making these improvements, including a decision on bridge and underpass options, the best possible.

The meeting will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Robinson Secondary School, 5035 Sideburn Road, in Fairfax with the VDOT presentation starting at 7:00 p.m. Unfortunately, this is the same evening as the FABB Board’s annual planning meeting, so we are urging local members and other interested bicyclists to attend the VDOT information meeting and speak up for better bicycling.
