• The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is preparing plans to insure equitable access to Fairfax County parks.
  • FABB encourages riders to support these plans at virtual public meetings.

The FCPA is developing the Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Access (PROSA) Strategy to provide a framework for equitable access to FCPA parks and the park system. FCPA is seeking public input at upcoming virtual public workshops to help shape the future of our local park system.

Most county residents live near park land, but far fewer have walkable or bike access to a park. The PROSA Strategy builds on the 2017 Parks & Recreation System Master Plan, Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2019 – 2023, and One Fairfax to meet the diverse needs of Fairfax County residents. The strategy seeks to identify 10-minute walk access gaps to FCPA parks, evaluate complete park experiences, analyze habitat connectivity between environmental corridors, and analyze and prioritize recreation needs and projects with an equity lens.

FABB is encouraging local riders to join one of these engaging workshops to learn about the project and to provide your input and ideas. The workshop dates and times are:

  • Virtual Public Workshop 1 – Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. Register for the meeting here.
  • Virtual Public Workshop 2 – Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. Register for the meeting here.

You can also share your ideas and experiences with FCPA using their public survey, which will soon be available on the FCPA PROSA website here.

Help make our park system better and join us in providing FCPA with ideas to improve the PROSA roadmap.
