Here are two ways FABB members can help promote safe bicycling and walking to school.

Parent Safe Routes to School Survey

FABB encourages everyone with children in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) to take five minutes to complete this survey.

By speaking up and sharing your views, you can help direct the school system’s efforts to improve safety measures for biking and walking in your community. This information also will be used by the FCPS Safe Routes to School program in its application for a VDOT grant, which is crucial to the SRTS program’s continuation.

Again, please take a few minutes to complete the survey. And be sure to share this post with your neighbors and friends.

Outstanding Crossing Guards

It also is time to take a few moments to recognize your local crossing guard’s service to the community by filling out this nomination form for Virginia’s Outstanding Crossing Guard award. Each year FCPS and other school systems around the Old Dominion nominate crossing guards who have shown great skill in managing busy crossings and intersections while keeping the children they serve safe and happy.

Please nominate your favorite crossing guard by January 20, 2002 and then watch for the announcement of winners on Crossing Guard Appreciation Day on February 12, 2020.
