Interested in Safe Routes to School? Plan now to participate in a great event on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 hosted by the Safe Routes Partnership and led by PLACE IT!. The free Interactive Community Engagement Workshop will be conducted from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm EST.

This virtual workshop is set up to generate ideas and designs for improved routes to school that emphasizes enforcement less and instead focuses on visionary and inclusive design solutions. PLACE IT! will use hands-on exercises to help participants generate their own creative ideas for Safe Routes to School and to train them to take the methods back and use them with students, parents, staff, and teachers to creatively engage them on improving neighborhoods for students walking and rolling (wheel chairs, bikes, scooters, etc.).

The Safe Routes Partnership is a national nonprofit organization working to advance safe walking and rolling to and from schools and in everyday life, improving the health and well-being of people of all races, income levels, and abilities, and building healthy, thriving communities for everyone. PLACE IT! is a design- and participation-based urban planning practice that uses model-building workshops and on-site interactive models to help engage the public in the planning and design process.

You can sign up here for this great opportunity to become more involved in providing Fairfax County students healthier and safer options for getting to and from school.
