Dranesville District Proposed Bike Improvements

Updated: December 1, 2018

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) have completed the 2018 summer repaving program in Dranesville District. All of the work this year in the district was concentrated in the McLean area. A bike lane and shared lane markings, also known as sharrows, were added on Beverly Road and Elm Street, and striped parking lanes and sharrows were placed on Fleetwood Road and Ingleside Avenue.  Bike lanes and sharrows were supposed to have been added to Churchill Road, but after the final engineering and some unexpected budget cuts, VDOT only added striped parking lanes. VDOT has determined that the road is wide enough for bike lanes but there may be an opportunity to add “Bikes May Use Full Lane” signs in the future.

2019 Repaving and Restriping public meetings probably will begin in February.
