August saw another drop in the standings for Fairfax County, but we have the whole month of September to make up some ground and overtake the Houston-area riders who moved into sixth place.

FABB encourages Fairfax County riders to get together with friends—new riders can still register for the challenge here—and go biking. August ended with 122 county bicyclists having logged 7,223 trips and just over 114,000 miles since the challenge started in May.

Virginia is still doing well overall. In the states with 8 to 12 million residents category, the Old Dominion is second to George with more than 500 riders participating statewide.

September is a beautiful time of the year to be outside on your bike. Please join in the National Bike Challenge and show the world how important bicycling is for recreation, commuting, and healthy living.
