Please join FABB for a memorial ride in honor of Fatima Del Carmen Alvarez Romero, who was killed while riding her bike by a driver at Telegraph Road and Franconia Road on June 3, 2021, in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County.

We will gather this Sunday, June 13, at 10:00 am at the Huntington Metro kiss and ride lot, located in the 5800 block of North Kings Highway (also known as the south entrance of the Huntington Metro). We then will ride to the site of the crash for a moment of remembrance and to recognize other recent bicycle and pedestrian fatalities.

Please wear white and bring signs showing your support for safety for all. Riders will use the occasion to repeat our calls on the Virginia Department of Transportation and Fairfax County to implement much-needed safety measures to protect vulnerable road users. Traffic violence is preventable. We need our leaders to hear our calls to work urgently toward eliminating all traffic fatalities and severe injuries while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all.
