The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will hold a second virtual paving and restriping meeting focused on two proposed bike lanes and marked crosswalks in Lee District on Wednesday, June 15, at 6 pm.

The first FCDOT and VDOT proposal is to add a bike lane and shared street markings along Farmington Drive between Telegraph Road and Edgehill Drive.

They also are proposing to add bike lanes along Fordson Road between Richmond Highway and Mount Vernon Plaza. New crosswalks across Fordson Road are proposed at Cyrene Boulevard and at the McDonald’s/Mount Vernon Plaza entrance.

The additional projects, which originally had been deferred for consideration until next year, are now possible due to a lower re-bid on the paving contract. If approved, these roads would be repaved between September 2022 and June 2023.

FABB encourages local riders to attend the meeting and show their support for additional bike lanes. You can attend the meeting on Microsoft Teams by using this Meeting Link.

You also can call in to the meeting by dialing 571-429-5982 and using conference ID: 380 568 299#

For those who want to participate but cannot, the meeting will be recorded and posted on the project webpage after June 15. Comments and feedback will be accepted through June 29, 2022, on the webpage.
