FABB encourages Mount Vernon area cyclists to attend a Fairfax County Department of Transportation public meeting to help plan future neighborhood connections around Huntley Meadows Park. Supervisor Dan Storck will be there to discuss alternatives for trails removed from comp plan guidance earlier this year. He will be joined by FCDOT staff, who will give a short presentation with background information on currently planned trails in the area, why two trails were removed, and why and where new connections are needed. Attendees will then get a chance to draw potential alignments of new trail connections on area maps.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 4, at 6:30 pm at the Gerry Hyland Government Center (previously known as the South County Government Center), 8350 Richmond Highway in Alexandria.

We need a good turnout of riders and other trail enthusiasts at the meeting. With your help we can Speak Up! and make our voices heard about improving connectivity between the Route 1 and Kings Highway/Telegraph Road corridors as well as providing access to Huntley Meadows Park, Huntley House historic site, and nearby elementary schools and neighborhoods that are underserved by bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
