Shanjiang Zhu, an associate professor in the Civil Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering Department at George Mason University, is asking for help from Apple iPhone uses who are 18 or older to test a new app that allows cyclists and pedestrians to report problems and request new facilities. FABB is encouraging our members to load the app and join in this Virginia Department of Transportation-funded project to develop better outreach methods for collecting feedback on biking and pedestrian facilities.
Shanjiang and other GMU researchers have developed InfraHub to facilitate reporting on problems with streets, sidewalks, and trails and to identify needed facilities.
Participation is easy and joining the test only takes a few seconds. You can load the app by searching “InfraHub” in the App Store or by visiting this link from a web browser.
Participation is anonymous and the only data transmitted is the information users choose to report along with location and any photographs the user uploads. You can even dictate an audio file if this is easier that manually entering text.
