FABB encourages local riders to join the Capital Trails Coalition on Wednesday, 28 April, at 2:00 pm for the release of its new report: The Economic, Health, and Environmental Benefits of Completing the Capital Trails Network. The Capital Trails Coalition, in partnership with a team of experts, spent two years developing an impact report to quantify the economic, health, and environmental benefits of our region’s 881-mile multi-use trail network. The report reveals that the Washington DC region is uniquely positioned to have the best trails system in the nation.

The report found that, among many impacts, a complete trail network could have $2 billion in total economic impact over 25 years while preventing 19,580 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually with an attendant $517 million in public health savings every year.

The program features remarks by Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, David Harrington, President of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, Congressman Don Beyer of Virginia’s 8th District. After a brief overview of the findings, there will be a panel discussion with community leaders and trail uses followed by a question and answer session.
