This Earth Day, April 23, 2022, you can join with Congressman Don Beyer, Fairfax County Supervisors Jeffrey McKay, Penelope Gross, and James Walkinshaw, and Fairfax County Park Authority Director Jai Cole to explore the Annandale Greenway and show your support for protecting the environment by encouraging active transportation through better paths and trails.

Although still in its formative stage, the Greenway is a 4.7-mile trail connecting Green Spring Gardens with the Annandale Community Park via Mason District Park, the Annandale Civic Space and the Manassas Gap Park and Historic Site. A group of Annandale residents, park, transportation, and elected officials have joined forces to develop the Greenway using sidewalks, neighborhood streets, and Fairfax County Park Authority trails. You can learn more about the trail in this Annandale Today news article.

The celebration starts at noon at the Annandale Civic Space located at 7200 Columbia Pike. After comments by the guest speakers, you can explore the Greenway, which will be marked with directional signs. A turn-by-turn program can be found at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38857528.

FABB will have an information table at the event and is looking for volunteer riders to explore the trail and provide feedback, observations, and suggestions for making it a more comfortable experience for bicyclists and other users.

This a great opportunity for the biking community to Speak Up! and make their views heard on how to make the greenway design better. Please send your comments and suggestions to [email protected].
