The Reston Regional Library is hosting a book talk as part of its Great Decisions Speaker Series that should be of great interest to Fairfax County bicyclists. The book is A Hole in the Wind: A Climate Scientist’s Bicycle Journey Across the United States and the author is David Goodrich, the former head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Observations and Monitoring Program. The talk is on Friday, 17 January, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm at 11925 Bowman Towne Drive in Reston.

Goodrich’s talk will focus on his experiences as he biked 4,200 miles between Delaware and Oregon determined to increase his fellow Americans’ understanding of climate change issues. During his trip he talked to people about the environment and confronted climate change denial and politically motivated misinformation. Entertaining and instructive, Goodrich’s talk will highlight numerous stories about the people he met and places he visited as well as his thoughts on how everyone can deal with this century’s greatest environmental crisis.
