It will soon be repaving and restriping time, which means the installation of new bike lanes in the county! Plan now to participate in one of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) virtual public meetings planned for April and support new bicycling infrastructure.

Each year VDOT and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) use this repaving and restriping program as a cost-effective opportunity to increase bicyclist and pedestrian safety with road and crosswalk improvements.

The schedule for meetings is now available and, as soon as FCDOT posts proposed improvements for every district, we will be providing updates along with registration links and dial-in information.  So, for now, just save the date for your district meeting:

Date                District(s)

April 18           Dranesville, Hunter Mill and Providence

April 19           Lee, Mount Vernon and Springfield

April 21           Braddock and Mason

April 21           Sully

FCDOT says that a video of each meeting will be available on the district paving and restriping page after the event.

As always, bikers will be able to provide striping-related feedback by submitting comments online with a deadline two weeks after each district meeting is held. Again, as soon as the login information is posted, FABB will make it available on our social media.

Please mark your calendars and join us in advocating for better bicycling with VDOT and FCDOT this spring.
