- Safe Walking Summit offers valuable experience and knowledge that aid advocacy efforts on multiple transportation issues
The Northern Virginia Regional Commission’s Share VA Roads is hosting the second annual Safe Walking summit this Wednesday, August 19, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm. During this online summit, participants will learn about tools, strategies, and new multiagency initiatives to increase walking safety in Virginia. Presenters will highlight resources and public health approaches as well as the benefits of livable communities and safer walking for all communities.
In addition to teaching walkability leadership skills, the summit offers ideas on moving the region towards zero traffic deaths. The last portion of the summit will consist of interactive sessions to develop recommendations related to next steps and greater community engagement.
