Busy Intersection on Dolley Madison Boulevard
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT), in coordination with Dranesville District Supervisor Foust, will host a community meeting to discuss alternatives for improving the Dolley Madison Boulevard Corridor in McLean on Thursday, June 13. The meeting will focus on Dolley Madison between Tysons and the downtown McLean area. FABB wants local members to attend and speak up for off-road shared-use paths and bike lanes on nearby streets as part of the solution to congestion along this road.
The alternatives were developed by the Dolley Madison Corridor Study, which is part of the “next steps” of the Tysons Neighborhood Study. Intersections along Dolley Madison are being evaluated to understand how each one affects the others.
Old Dominion-Lewinsville Road/Great Falls Street Intersection
FCDOT also is investigating short-term improvements requiring minimal right-of-way that might provide near-term traffic congestion reductions at these intersections. In particular, the intersections at Great Falls Street/Lewinsville Road and Dolley Madison, nearby Balls Hill and Lewinsville Roads, and Dolley Madison and Old Dominion Drive will be discussed at the June 13 meeting. The study also includes Dolley Madison Boulevard and Anderson Road and Ingleside Avenue intersections along with Great Falls Street and Chain Bridge Road and Old Dominion Drive and Ingleside Avenue/Park Avenue.
